MIDI composition - MIDI (Musical Instrument Digital Interface) composition takes advantage of the MIDI interface to allow musical data files to be shared among various electronic instruments by using a standard list of commands and parameters known as General MIDI (GM). Because the musical is simply data and not actually recorded wave forms, (the data is essentially a series of "on" and "off" commands, along with numerical information) and is therefore maintained in a small file format.
Pe (text editor) - Pe, short for Programmer's Editor, is a text editor for the BeOS operating system. It is commonly used for writing source code files for computer programs or editing the HTML markup in webpages, although it can be used to edit any ASCII text file.
Hex editor - A hex editor (AKA binary file editor) is a type of computer program that allows a user to manipulate binary (normally non-plain text) computer files. Hex editors that were designed to edit sector data from floppy or hard disks were sometimes called sector editors.
SAT file - SAT stands for "Standard ACIS Text" and is one of two types of ACIS files (SAB, Standard ACIS Binary, being the other). SAT files are ASCII text files that may be viewed with a text editor.
